Something Old, Something Blue

Well I officially finished one of my DIY projects last night and decided to share with you all. I have a lot of bridesmaids...7 to be exact. I realize for some people that is too many, but after reading a wedding ettique book, I learned that for a formal evening wedding, anywhere from 6-12! bridesmaids is acceptable. So I felt much better.

Anyway, as there is 7, I couldn't ask my bridesmaids to help me with my "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, & a sixpence in your shoe". So I decided to ask the ladies of Mr. Scott's family and my family to help me. I basically assigned each woman a different category. Mr. Scott's Mom, Mr. Scott's Grandma, my Mom, and my Grandma are all very special women and I cannot wait to see what they come up with. I put them in the mail already so I have no problem posting about them. :) SO, here is my first completed DIY project details!

I started with blue cardstock and used a silver ink with one of my border stamps from Paper Source to line the edges.Originally I had printed the note I had written on the vellum paper but soon realized it would be harder for people to read. (The close up below shows the fun print on the vellum paper.)So using my paper cutter, I placed a sheet of white paper behind the vellum with glue dots. (I could probably write a whole post on how much I LOVE glue dots!)
Then I simply punched two holes at the top and attached the vellum. TA DA! My completed notes to the ladies!

Meet Maid "Ms. J"!

Well, another installment of "Meet My Maids". This week is Ms. J!(Please ignore Ms. D's face in the background)

When we met: Ms. J and I met through Mr. Scott. She and Mr. Scott have been friends for a very long time and while her boyfriend is one of Mr. Scott's Men, she has actually known him longer. We first met at a bar in Santa Monica. I was out for a night on the town to meet all of Mr. Scott's friends and was soooo nervous about making a good impression. She struck up a conversation with me and made me feel so comfortable that I instantly liked her. Our friendship has only grown from there.

What I love about her: Ms. J is so much fun to be around. She and I never look for things to do because life is exciting when she is around. She is so creative and brilliantly talented and I love watching her create projects, paintings, and photography. Almost a "Jill of all Trades". Our personalities are extremely similar in our sense of humor, fun, and even in how we deal with problems in life. She has become a close friend very quickly and a huge support of Mr. Scott's and my relationship. I have appreciated her advice and wisdom, patience, and love. Ms. J is also my "girl amongst guys." As most of Mr. Scott's friends are single right now, there is a slight shortage in women we all hang out with. It has been nice to add some estrogen to our group and have someone there that understands me better than other people.

Why she was chosen: Ms. J was chosen because of both our friendship and her friendship with Mr. Scott. She has been a good friend to us both, as well as a cheerleader for us, confidant, and friend. We have become so close in such a short time and I know our friendship is only going to develop further from here. I cant wait to continue making memories with her!

First Impression: "There is a fiery lil redhead over there who is giving me the eye. I hope she doesn't hate me."(I am still unclear why my friends have this thing with getting in the background of my pictures. :) )

Broache This!

I am still awaiting the arrival of my bridesmaids dresses. I'll be honest...I do not think these are the prettiest dresses ever and I am not in the bridal mode of "I LOVE THESE DRESSES!" and I also do not think the girls could shorten them or wear them again. However, I think being a bridesmaid as often as I have has caused me to hate anything that has to do with a bridemaids dress. With that said, these past the price quota and the "It'll do" test, so we ordered them. We bought them online because they were 50% cheaper than buying in store. Though we did go into a store to try them on first and I am SO GLAD we did that.
Moving on. The dress originally was designed in all black with a white sash. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the white sash, and since it was attached to the dress, I opted for black on black thinking I could always add a sash. Well this sash idea has certainly stuck with me and once i found these fabulous broaches for a VERY decent price, I couldn't resist!

We're Back!

We had a FABULOUS time in B-E-A-UTIFUL Seattle. It was a little cold and we substituted fun 80 degree southern CA weather for cold 45 degree weather, but it was totally worth it! I have really missed my family and it was so nice to spend some quality time with them. I also really felt like we got a chance to spend some time with Ms. K even though she was the sought after Hostess of the weekend. It was so special for Mr. Scott and I, and Ms. B and her BF to hang out with Ms. K. We loved it.

As for the wedding, I spent both flights re-organizing my wedding binder so that it is more useful and I am more organized. I wrote down some deadlines and dates for DIY projects, made a few lists (I love lists) and started making some preparations. So tonight, I am off to finish organizing my apartment, finish organizing my binder, and continue work on my charity tokens. I want to finish them by this weekend. So I will come back tomorrow with lots of wedding inspiration. Until then, I leave you with a picture of my fabulous Ms. K sista...in her very "sista-like" pose. I love her!
